[Talking about Josh definitely wouldn't help. And as much as she admits she's too afraid of saying too much and scaring Maya away entirely. Because this is scaring her. So much so that she squirms slightly under her blanket when Maya suggests sleeping over. That was the opposite of what should happen when she has a plague, she wants to squeak, but Maya's last words pierce her ears and she...

Finally tosses back the blanket to look at her friend with wide eyes.]

I don't want you to ever leave, Maya. [It's said all too quickly, too afraid she might leave? Because Riley's making this weird.] I just got... jealous hearing you talk about it. I don't know why. I--I want you to kiss whoever you want Maya, I do, but then I'm like no I want you to kiss only me? And I'm being really selfish--I--

[She wants to say yes she wants to hear Maya say she'll only kiss her, but that's too selfish for her to admit so she bites her lips and looks away. At least she doesn't hide again?]

*There was something strangely satisfying that Riley Matthews, adopter of all the strange woodland animals, friend to all, and overall too good at being good for anyone conceivable in the world being jealous. Especially since it was about Maya, even if they might have to have a talk about what this means. A talk that'll probably involve Topanga explaining how deep a mess they have thrown themselves into... but that's a later problem.*

It's okay to be selfish, about certain things. Look on the bright side, your dad has a little trouble juggling his wife and his boyfriend, you and I won't have that problem?

*If Riley hadn't turned away, trying to hide without the defensive shield that is a blanket, she'd probably notice that Maya was moving her face closer. Soon, close enough that whatever arguments Riley might have can just get lost in Maya's lips pressing into Riley's again because, well, Maya knows what she wants right now. And the details can wait till her third first kiss is done.*

[ Well, Maya's definitely right: Riley has no room for arguments right now. In fact her brain seems to shut off as her hand reaches for her shirt to bring her friend closer. Some part of her knows this is bad, they'll confuse things more, but that doesn't matter. Even if after everything she just said Maya Hart decided to kiss her and all she wants to do in that moment is return it with everything she has. So she does. ]

*That kissing while sitting up thing was great. No, really, it was great, she never thought there was better. Except now she's found kissing while in bed. And oh man the possibilities. They could do this every sleepover before bed. Just- that alone made every flaw in this plan worth it. Sure, this plan was very much the mess only one Maya Hart could make, but it felt right. It felt good, she wanted it, and they were having it. She let Riley pull her closer, so she wormed an arm under Riley's back to make sure there was no escaping.*

*...They'll figure out how to breathe while kissing eventually.*

[ There were a lot of flaws in this plan, it was true, but one thing prevailed: She loved Maya and she wanted to kiss only her. That was a thing that was in full fruitation and she doesn't want to stop that feeling. She likes feeling the way Maya's heart beats against her chest at the closeness of their bodies. She realizes she likes the taste of Maya's lips all sweet and tang-y. There's definitely no way she's ever escaping this as her free hand goes to tangle itself back in Maya's hair, its new permanent home.

...Yeah. They still had a lot to learn about this, but the idea of learning it together was all too alluring. ]

*Maya wasn't sure exactly what love was supposed to be, she only knew the love she had. She loved Riley, and she loved Lucas, and she loved Josh. But, if she had to pick between the three... there really wasn't a choice there. Josh was always just out of reach, and Lucas was a mess of problems she couldn't fix... but the idea of not doing this with Riley anymore. That, that she couldn't give up, not now, not ever.*

*Once they did it, kissed that first first time, she wanted this to be a thing forever. And whatever feelings were giving her trouble, they could cram it if they got in the way of more of this. She loved the scent of Riley's shampoo, the feeling of her lips, how warm she was next to her. Maya had decided that she wanted to be really really sure Riley wasn't going anywhere, and hooked her leg around her friend's legs. This was going to be some year they were going into.*

[ As emotional as she is, Riley is more of a mind person. It's not that she doesn't feel, it's that she wants to constantly do the right thing for everyone involved. Everyone. But right now it's hard to figure out what else is right. In spite of the small squeak of sound she gives at Maya entangling them further, she doesn't pull her away. She knows instinctively Maya's wanting the same thing she is at that moment.

So the hand that's twisted itself in Maya's hair goes to her neck trying to pull the girl impossibly closer. Whatever happened this year, this is what she wanted to be part of it, she thought as she tried to roll them over so their chests could touch-- craving without really realizing the feel of Maya's heart beating against hers. ]
